Welcome to BIMS Tech! Please bear with us as we continuously update this site.
Being a primarily remote organization, we rely on the internet and SaaS tools to collaborate whether synchronously or asynchronously.
As the team continues to grow, so does our environment, the market, and the technologies developed. We try to adapt to the continuous changes in the market to make us relevant. However, it also requires a sensitive balance between adapting to changes and establishing a way of working. It can never completely one or the other.
The following tools help us work together and manage work individually. This is what we call our technology stack or tech stack.
A tech stack is originally defined as "the combination of technologies a company uses to build and run an application or project. Sometimes called a “solutions stack,” a tech stack typically consists of programming languages, frameworks, a database, front-end tools, back-end tools, and applications connected via APIs." - Heap.io
This term was specifically used in software development. However, As more solutions and SaaS arose in the market, the term also evolved to refer not just to the composition of software, but also the composition of tools and/or software used to manage work in companies. It now refers to the stack of technologies and software that a company uses to be able to get work done - depending on the role and function.
At BIMS, we try to work with our central work tools such as Google Workspace, which has quite a number of apps that come with it, including Gmail, Google Meet, Google Drive, Sheets, Docs, Slides, Sites [like this one], Google Calendar [which is our life blood], Google Groups. We also use Wrike to oversee the status of each of the tasks. These 2 platforms work with each other - such that each task which is managed in Wrike, can attach google documents, and can schedule task assignments into the Google calendar.
Each department will have different needs and they are most likely to use a certain type of software based on their function. Some of the apps are also best for internal use, while some are best for external collaboration. For example, for sales, it's always good to loop in sales@bims.tech of the google groups, so whoever is handling the client can have support for follow-through.
You are encouraged to watch videos regarding these apps and how they work. You will also be oriented to use them. However for some of these apps, it's already assumed that you know how to use them, especially if it's a job related application, which requires that you have knowledge in its use. An example is for creative designers, they are expected to already know adobe photoshop, or canva or other similar tools related to their function as a creative designer.
As we develop, everyone can suggest tools that will be relevant to our respective work. Everyone is welcomed to recommend and suggest best practices that we can imbibe and decide from there if we should adopt it or not.
